SEND Reforms - What would you like to see?

We are working in partnership with agencies across health, education and social care to shape and deliver meaningful SEND reforms.

One question can make all the difference: what does good SEND support look like for you and your family? — because lived experience is the foundation of lasting change

Education Otherwise than at School (EOTAS)

EOTAS stands for Education Otherwise Than at School. It describes the specific and education arrangements that are put in place for a child or young person with an EHCP when it would be inapproppropiate for them to attend a school or post-16 setting.

We would like to gather parental views about the EOTAS process.

Transport

A number of parent carers have shared with us the difficulties they've experienced organising transport for their child and their worries starting the new school year. We would like to know more about what parent carers experiences have been like, as well as there views about how we can make this better. Its only a short survey, but it will help us understand the difficulties and work towards solutions.

Salford's Local Offer

Every Local Authority has to have a Local Offer that tells parent carers what services are available for their children with SEND. Have you heard of the Local Offer? Have you seen what is available? Are you able to access the information easily?

Parent reps are working with the Local Offer Partnership to improve the Local Offer and would love to hear your views?

THIS CONSULTATION IS NOW CLOSED. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET INVOLVED IN THE WORKSTEAM, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.

Annual SEND survey: Parent Carers

Each September, we send out our Annual SEND Survey to parent carers. It runs for 6 weeks and the results  are shared with strategic leads in Education, Health, and Social Care as well as leisure and recreational providers. This  help to shape and plan services, understand what is working, and where improvements are needed to be made.

THIS SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED AND WILL REOPEN IN THE AUTUMN TERM

Participation

What is participation?

Parent carer participation is when parents and service providers work together, recognising each other’s expert knowledge, to design, develop and improve services for children and young people with SEND aged 0 – 25 in the local area.

Why is it important?

Parent carers can help identify problems families  with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) frequently experience. This knowledge is useful to service providers as they plan services to meet the needs of these families.

How you you get involved?

Have your say and share your views. Your voice really does count and can help make positive changes to SEND services in Salford. There are lots of ways to have your say. You can:

- Complete any of our surveys

- Join our SEND Participation Action Group

- Come along to any of our drop-ins/coffee mornings or support groups

- Get involved in our co-production sessions
